Byron Bay is the perfect location for a weekend getaway. This little slice of heaven offers something for everyone, from picture-postcard beaches and delicious organic food, to a thriving art scene and of course, beautiful boutique shopping.

These are some of our must-dos when holidaying in Byron Bay…

Our favourite beaches 

We’re spoilt for choice when it comes to beaches – each special in their own unique way. But if we had pick our faves, we’d say Wategos Beach for a dreamy afternoon dip followed by coffee at Rae’s, or Tallow Beach if you’re looking for somewhere a little quieter.

If you have an SUV, make sure you visit Whites Beach. Tucked away at the end of a winding dirt track road, high up in the rainforest, you’ll discover the concealed entrance to this hidden gem. Trust us when we say the expedition will be worth it…as you’ll be rewarded with amazing waves, white sand and crystal-clear water, all set at the bottom of dramatic, tree-covered cliffs.

Our favourite food spots

You could spend the entire weekend just eating your way around Byron. For breakfast, we love The General Store for healthy smoothie bowls and buckwheat waffles or Folk for insta-worthy, plant-based goodness.

When it comes to lunch, Bayleaf is great for fresh salads or there’s The Farm for paddock-to-plate style eating at The Three Blue Ducks restaurant, nestled behind huge barn doors and opening out onto luscious rolling fields.

For a chic, relaxed dinner, slip on something white and head over to The Mez Club for Mediterranean style tapas, great cocktails and good vibes all round. We also love Byron Bay Fresh Café in the heart of town which often has live music playing in the evening.

Our favourite things to do

Shopping! Cruise through town and discover local designs, handmade mementos and statement home interiors. Starting at our Dreamers & Drifters boutique, of course, at the top of Jonson Street. 

Wander through our rails of eco-friendly, vintage-inspired, bohemian fashion, all designed in Australia and handmade with love. Shop our newest collections and staple pieces that nod to Byron’s 70s nostalgia and alternative culture.

We would also recommend taking the short trip over to The Arts & Industrial Estate where you’ll get to experience Byron’s creative hub. Take a stroll around Habitat and grab a juice at Vagabond or stop off at Stone & Wood Brewery for a tasting board of Byron’s famous local beer.

And lastly, you can’t come to Byron without doing the Lighthouse Walk. It’s the perfect hike for spotting dolphins or even humpback whales along the way, and watching the sun go down after another glorious day in paradise.
