We’re seriously spoilt for choice for delicious food in Byron. If you’re visiting for a holiday or long weekend, you have to experience some of our favourite foodie spots before you leave…
Breakfast / brunch
The General Store – housed in one of Byron Shire’s oldest commercial buildings, The General Store is a breakfast staple. Serving up beautifully delicious, healthy and wholesome dishes, many of which plant-based, it’s a favourite hang-out for locals and visitors alike – even celebs like Zac Efron have been known to grab a coffee or two here.

The Farm – set behind huge wooden barn doors on a glorious working farm, this paddock-to-plate style eatery offers freshest at its finest. The Blue Ducks restaurant has a fabulous seasonal menu and rolling views of farmland, as well as a bar, bakery and local produce store.
Folk – this instagrammable spot is a bohemian dream, specialising in scrumptious, organic, vegan eats. Perfect for a peaceful brunch before heading over to The Arts & Industrial Estate. You simply HAVE to try the buckwheat banana hotcakes.
Lunch
Bayleaf – this well-established café in the centre of town is known for their fresh flavours and delicious use of local ingredients. You’ll love their well-priced daily salads and sandwiches, hearty plates, sweet treats, coffees and more.
Byron Fresh – a hop, skip and a jump from main beach is this charming café, serving up a great variety of fresh dishes throughout the day to keep everyone happy. We love the chilled vibes and huge open windows at the front; ideal for listening to the live music that’s often playing here.
Combi – another Byron-classic. Combi is the go-to place for raw treats, plant-based yumminess and the prettiest smoothies and acai bowls you’ve ever seen. When the sun is hot, it’s the perfect place to cool down and refuel.
Dinner
The Mez Club – dress up in your best whites and swing by The Mez Club for a luxury, laid-back evening of amazing Mediterranean-style tapas and drinks inspired by European countries such as Morocco, Turkey and Greece. You won’t be disappointed.
Barrio – simplicity and quality are what Barrio is all about. Located in the up-market shopping and dining region, Habitat, on The Arts & Industrial Estate, Barrio is a Spanish / Argentinian style restaurant serving exquisite, ethically-focused food.

The Loft – set upstairs away from the hustle and bustle of the street below, is this glamorous oasis. The Loft is a super chic yet casual venue in the heart of town offering delightful share plates and elegant cocktails, perfect for enjoying with a big group of friends or family.
Evening drinks
Miss Margarita – this ever-full Mexican hot spot is well-known for its colourful cocktails and fun, party vibes until late. We recommend booking as this place gets busy quick, especially on the weekends. What a fabulous base for your night on the town!
Light Years – a vibrant, retro-fitted, modern take on Vietnamese cuisine. Light Years offers tastes of South East Asia and a fabulous cocktail bar to match. If good food and drink, good music and a good atmosphere is what you’re after, this is the place to be.
